The Proteas are gearing up for a significant World Test Championship final against Australia, commencing on June 11 at Lord's. Following this, Conrad's role as the all-format head coach will kick off with a T20I tri-series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand in July.
This appointment, which extends until the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 to be held in South Africa, aims to enhance the national team's competitiveness across all formats.
Enoch Nkwe, CSA's Director of National Teams and High Performance, commended Conrad's contributions to the Test setup, stating, “Shukri’s achievements with the red-ball team are evident. He has established a strong foundation and a clear identity within the Test environment. I look forward to seeing him apply that same clarity and structure to the white-ball formats.”
Nkwe also noted, “Having been part of the national setup for the last two years, he understands the challenges of international cricket and has built valuable relationships with the players. We are confident he is the right leader to guide the team forward and continue our positive momentum.”
