Shubman Gill's Injury Raises Doubts Ahead of Final T20I Against South Africa
Shubman Gill's Status Uncertain for Final T20I
On Thursday, Shubman Gill joined the Indian cricket team for the fifth and concluding T20I against South Africa, despite concerns regarding an injury he sustained to his toe prior to the fourth match.
Gill was initially expected to sit out Wednesday's fourth T20I in Lucknow due to his injury during practice; however, adverse weather conditions led to the match being called off.
It remains unclear whether Gill, who has been facing difficulties with his batting form, will be fit for the fifth T20I scheduled for Friday, or if Sanju Samson will take his place in the lineup.
Previously, Gill had missed a significant portion of the Test series against South Africa due to a neck injury incurred during the first match in Kolkata, which also sidelined him for the subsequent three-match ODI series.
Currently, India leads the five-match T20I series 2-1, and the upcoming match will mark their final game of the year.
Following this series, India is set to face New Zealand in a three-match ODI and a five-match T20I series beginning on January 11.
