Shreyanka Patil's Injury Confirmation

In a disappointing turn of events for Indian cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced early Friday that Shreyanka Patil will not participate in the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. The 23-year-old sustained an injury during the second match of the tournament on June 17 at Old Trafford in Manchester. The incident occurred in the sixth over of the Netherlands' innings while she was bowling. In an attempt to field the ball, Shreyanka fell awkwardly, resulting in a twisted ankle, and she had to be carried off the field.

Introducing Premea Rawat

Who Is Prema Rawat?

Premea Rawat, a 24-year-old leg-spinner, is yet to make her debut for India in any format but may receive her first cap during this prestigious tournament. Originating from Uttarakhand, she plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Women's Premier League (WPL) and notably shares a dressing room with Shreyanka. Rawat was part of the RCB squad that clinched the WPL title in 2026, although she participated in only three matches during the recent season, taking three wickets. She was acquired by the franchise in the 2025 season for ₹1.2 crores and was retained in the 2026 mega auction using the Right to Match (RTM) card for ₹20 lakhs. Premea has consistently been a member of the India-A team, having taken eight wickets in five matches during the women's Asia Cup Rising Stars earlier this year, boasting an impressive economy rate of 4.27.
