Shivam Dube Discusses Bumrah's Return and Team Dynamics Ahead of Fourth T20I

Bumrah's Availability for Fourth T20I

In Lucknow, Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube addressed the media regarding the participation of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the upcoming fourth T20I against South Africa, scheduled for December 17 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. Bumrah had to miss the third T20I in Dharamshala due to personal matters, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Dube mentioned, "From what I understand, Bumrah is expected to be available for the match. However, I cannot confirm this with absolute certainty."

Shubman Gill's Form Under Scrutiny

The vice-captain of the T20I team, Shubman Gill, has been facing challenges with his performance in the series against South Africa, having accumulated only 32 runs across three matches, resulting in a disappointing average of 10.37. Dube expressed his support for Gill, stating, "Despite his fluctuating form, Shubman has consistently performed well for the Indian team over the years. He remains one of India's top batsmen."

Backing Suryakumar Yadav

Dube also extended his support to T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who is currently experiencing a dip in form. He remarked, "Suryakumar has the potential to single-handedly secure victories. His current struggles do not diminish his talent; he is among the finest players, and his unique skills are unmatched."

"While he may be short on runs at the moment, I believe he will find his rhythm again soon. He is a resilient player who can turn the game around at any moment," Dube added.

Dube's Fitness and Bowling Insights

Shivam Dube shared that he has focused on enhancing his fitness during the off-season and has benefited from discussions with India's bowling coach, Morne Morkel. He stated, "I have dedicated significant time to my fitness. Conversations with Morne have been invaluable for my bowling development."

"T20 cricket requires strategic thinking. Initially, I was unsure about how to apply my skills effectively. However, with support from Gautam Gambhir and captain Surya, I gained confidence in my ability to perform under pressure," he explained.

Axar Patel's Absence

In other news, Axar Patel has been ruled out of the remaining two T20I matches against South Africa due to illness, as announced by the BCCI. The board confirmed that Patel will remain with the team in Lucknow for further medical evaluation. Shahbaz Ahmed has been named as his replacement for the upcoming matches in Lucknow and Ahmedabad.

Upcoming Matches

The fourth T20I is set to take place in Lucknow on December 17, followed by the fifth and final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on December 19. Currently, India leads the five-match series 2-1.
