Shaurya Sharma's Impressive Round at PGTI Qualifying School

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], October 22: In a remarkable display of skill, 25-year-old Shaurya Sharma from India achieved the best score of the day with a five-under 67, propelling him to a one-shot lead with a total of four-under 212 at the Final Qualifying Stage of the PGTI Qualifying School 2026-27, held at the Kensville Golf & Country Club in Ahmedabad.

Starting the day tied for seventh and trailing the leader by five strokes, Chandigarh's Shaurya (71-74-67) climbed six positions thanks to his five birdies during the round.

Md Siddikur Rahman from Bangladesh, who led after the first round, and Indian amateur Arin Ahuja are tied for second place at three-under 213, with scores of (69-73-71) and (70-73-70) respectively.

Shaurya Sharma, a consistent participant on the PGTI since 2025, made a strong comeback after finishing the second round in a tie for seventh. His short game was particularly impressive on day three, featuring a 25-footer and a 15-footer for birdies, along with excellent wedge shots that set him up for three easy tap-in birdies.

Reflecting on his performance, Shaurya stated, “The long putts on the third and eighth holes gave me early momentum. I followed that up with three excellent wedge shots, which boosted my confidence. I also managed to save par with a long putt on the 13th and nearly holed my second shot on the 12th. This course has posed a tough challenge, but I’m pleased to be finding my form at the right moment with just one round remaining.”

Notably, Nim Dorji Tamang, currently tied for 76th place, has made history as the first player from Bhutan to reach the halfway cut in the Final Stage of the DP World PGTI Q School.

At the conclusion of the fourth round, the top 48 players will secure their full cards for the upcoming 2026-27 DP World PGTI season.
