Cricketer Denies Assault Claims

Shashank Singh, a player for Punjab Kings, has refuted claims of assault following the registration of an FIR against him, his father, and their driver. He insists that no physical confrontation occurred and alleges that the complainant was secretly taking photos and videos inside their residence. In a statement, Singh remarked, "We did not hold him hostage... He came claiming to be a cook, but he was not. He had no cooking skills; he was merely there to take videos and photos, even entering my room."

Singh expressed concern that the individual might have intended to steal, noting, "Given his actions, I suspect he had ulterior motives. Thankfully, we have not discovered anything missing so far." He also mentioned that private videos and photos were found on the complainant's phone, which his mother requested be deleted.

"The police have not contacted us yet. When we caught him filming, my sister suggested calling the police, but he begged us to let him go," Singh added. He firmly denied the assault allegations, stating, "It’s possible for someone to make such claims against me... Anyone who knows me understands that I would never engage in physical violence. I even avoid using harsh language, so such behavior is out of character for me."

In response, Additional DCP (Zone-1) Rashmi Agrawal Dubey confirmed that an FIR was filed at the Ratibad police station based on the assault complaint. "An FIR was registered yesterday at Ratibad police station regarding an alleged assault. Three individuals, including Shailesh Singh, his son, and their driver, have been named in the complaint," Dubey stated. She noted that the complainant has undergone a medical examination, and further actions will depend on the findings of that report. "If the medical report shows any serious injuries, appropriate actions will follow. At this stage, the incident does not seem to involve a severe assault," she concluded.
