Shafali Verma's Ranking Boost

Indian opener Shafali Verma has ascended two positions to secure the sixth spot in the ICC Women's T20I Batting Rankings, following her impressive half-century against South Africa during the ongoing five-match T20I series.

In the second T20I held in Durban last Sunday, Shafali scored 57 runs off 38 balls, although India faced defeat against the hosts by eight wickets, falling to a 0-2 series deficit.

Previously, India also lost the first T20I at the same venue by six wickets, where Shafali contributed 34 runs to the team's total.

Mandhana and Kaur's Performance

Smriti Mandhana, India's vice-captain and Shafali's opening partner, has dropped one position to fourth place after a lackluster performance in the two matches, scoring only 13 and 12 runs. She has been surpassed by Hayley Matthews from the West Indies, who now holds the third position.

On a positive note, India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur has moved up two spots and is now just outside the top 10, currently ranked 11th, thanks to her unbeaten 47 runs in the first T20I.

Rodrigues and South Africa's Rising Stars

Jemimah Rodrigues, celebrated for her performance in the Women's World Cup, has experienced a significant drop of four places, now sitting at 14th among batters due to her recent form.

The series is vital for both teams as they prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup, set to commence in June in England and Wales.

South Africa's captain, Laura Wolvaardt, has maintained her fifth position among T20I batters, following a strong half-century in the second match against India. Her teammates, Annerie Dercksen and Sune Luus, have also made notable advancements in the rankings, with Dercksen jumping 18 places to 33rd and Luus rising eight spots to 35th.

India's Bowling Rankings

In the bowlers' rankings, India's key players Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh Thakur, and Arundhati Reddy have all seen declines. Deepti has fallen two spots to fifth, while Renuka has dropped four places to ninth. Arundhati has slipped three positions to 12th, moving out of the top 10.
