Serena Williams to Make Grand Return at 2026 Wimbledon Championships
Serena Williams' Exciting Comeback
Tennis legend Serena Williams is poised to make a remarkable return to women's singles at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships, having received a wildcard entry for this prestigious grass-court Grand Slam event.
Scheduled from June 29 to July 12, the 2026 Championships are anticipated to feature Williams' comeback as one of the most captivating narratives of the tournament.
Wimbledon officially announced this news via an Instagram post, confirming the seven-time singles champion's return to the All England Club.
The tournament's Instagram account excitedly stated, "This is not a drill. @serenawilliams will compete in the 2026 ladies' singles at Wimbledon as a wild card."

This wildcard entry marks Williams' first participation in the women's singles draw at Wimbledon in four years, following her earlier return to the Championships through a doubles wildcard alongside her sister, Venus Williams.
At 44 years old, Williams is celebrated as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. She stepped back from professional tennis after the 2022 US Open but made a competitive return earlier this month at Queen's Club, where she teamed up with rising star Victoria Mboko in doubles.
The duo won their opening match, but unfortunately, Mboko had to withdraw from the tournament due to an injury, which will also prevent her from competing at Wimbledon.
Venus Williams, who returned to the tour last July after a 16-month hiatus, is currently ranked No. 119 in doubles. Her best performance since her comeback was reaching the quarterfinals at last year's US Open with partner Leylah Fernandez.
According to the WTA website, the six remaining wild cards in the women's doubles draw have been awarded to all-British pairings: Katie Boulter/Heather Watson, Madeleine Brooks/Amelia Rajecki, Jodie Burrage/Mika Stojsavljevic, Freya Christie/Eden Silva, Harriet Dart/Maia Lumsden, and Alicia Dudeney/Mimi Xu.
Maja Chwalinska has also received a singles wildcard for Wimbledon, leading the list of recipients.
The 24-year-old from Poland was ranked No. 114 when the entry list was confirmed but climbed to No. 21 after an impressive run to the Roland Garros final. This will be her second appearance in the Wimbledon main draw, having previously qualified in 2022 and reached the second round.
Harriet Dart, Alicia Dudeney, Hannah Klugman, Mika Stojsavljevic, Katie Swan, and Mimi Xu have been granted six singles wild cards for Wimbledon, with the final spot yet to be determined.
Dart, 29, will be making her eighth appearance in the Wimbledon main draw, having previously reached the third round twice. Swan, 27, is set for her seventh singles appearance and aims to improve upon her best result of a second-round finish in 2018.
Dudeney, 23, a former University of Florida player, recently achieved her first Top 100 victory against Yulia Putintseva in Nottingham qualifying and is set to make her WTA main-draw debut there as a lucky loser, with Wimbledon marking her Grand Slam main-draw debut.
Teenagers Klugman, Stojsavljevic, and Xu will all be making their second consecutive appearances in the Wimbledon main draw. Klugman, 17, a former junior world No. 1, recently secured her first Top 100 victory over Anastasia Zakharova in Nottingham qualifying before entering the main draw as a lucky loser.
Stojsavljevic, the 2024 US Open girls' singles champion, also achieved a notable win over top-60 player Talia Gibson earlier this year in Billie Jean King Cup action.
