Sarah Taylor Takes on New Role with England Men's Team

Sarah Taylor, the former England wicketkeeper renowned for her contributions to women's cricket, has been appointed as the fielding coach for the senior men's Test squad ahead of their series against New Zealand. This announcement was made by Rob Key, the ECB's Director of Cricket, on Wednesday.


At 37 years old, Taylor boasts an impressive record of 226 matches across various formats. She previously served with the England Lions under Andrew Flintoff, where her exceptional skills led to her elevation to the senior team's coaching staff.


In addition to her work with the England Lions, Taylor has experience with the Sussex men's team and the Manchester Originals. She has been given a short-term contract to serve as fielding coach while Carl Hopkinson is currently engaged with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.


Rob Key praised Taylor's expertise, stating, "She is among the best in her field. Her performance has been remarkable, and both Andrew Flintoff and Ed Barney have spoken very highly of her. We are thoroughly impressed with her approach and professionalism."


Key also mentioned that while Hopkinson is occupied with the IPL, they plan to utilize his skills at a later date.
