Sanju Samson Credits Sachin Tendulkar for T20 World Cup Success

On Sunday, Sanju Samson revealed that his remarkable performance during India's victorious T20 World Cup run was significantly influenced by his insightful discussions with cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. He mentioned that he had been in regular communication with Tendulkar over the past two months.

Samson was named Player of the Tournament after delivering outstanding performances in the last three matches, including the semifinal against England and the final against New Zealand.

He expressed, "For the past couple of months, I have been in touch with Sachin sir. I reached out to him and had significant conversations. Receiving guidance from someone of his caliber is invaluable."

Reflecting on India's 96-run victory in the final, where he scored an impressive 89, Samson stated, "I am incredibly thankful to everyone who supported me."

Having faced challenges leading up to the World Cup, he shared, "It feels surreal. I am overwhelmed with happiness and gratitude. I am at a loss for words and emotions."

He continued, "This journey began a year or two ago. When I was part of the 2024 World Cup squad but didn’t play, I kept visualizing my goals and working towards them. After the New Zealand series, I felt devastated, as if my dreams were crushed."

"I was contemplating my next steps, but fate had other plans. I was rewarded for daring to dream. Many former players reached out to offer their support," he added.

When asked about his future aspirations, the wicketkeeper-batter replied, "This achievement is monumental for me. I want to savor this moment before considering what comes next."
