Delhi CM Honors Sanju Samson's New Role

On Thursday, Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met with cricketer Sanju Samson to congratulate him on his appointment as the Brand Ambassador for Jan Kaushal Kendra. She emphasized his significant connection to the capital and his potential to motivate the youth of the city.


In a post shared on X, CM Gupta expressed her excitement about Samson's new role, stating that he will serve as an inspiration for young people in Delhi, guiding them towards skill development and self-sufficiency. She noted his deep ties to the city, where he spent his formative years and began his cricket career.


“I had the pleasure of meeting the star cricketer and youth icon, Shri Sanju Samson, to welcome him to Team Delhi! Sanju has a unique bond with Delhi, having started his cricket journey here. As the Brand Ambassador for Jan Kaushal Kendra, Moti Nagar, appointed by the Madan Lal Khurana Foundation, he will motivate the youth towards skills and opportunities,” she wrote in her post.


Accompanying her were MLA Shri Harish Khurana and senior members from the Trinity Foundation and IACT Education.


Recently, during the third T20I against Afghanistan at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Samson achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing 9,000 runs in T20 cricket.


He reached this landmark while scoring 50 runs off 35 balls, marking his second consecutive half-century in T20Is. His innings included two fours and four sixes before he was dismissed by Azmatullah Omarzai in the 14th over.


Samson's T20 career now boasts 9,027 runs across 351 matches, featuring eight centuries and 57 half-centuries.


In T20 internationals, he has accumulated 1,549 runs in 69 matches, averaging 28 with a strike rate of 158, including three centuries and seven fifties.


This achievement came during a stunning opening partnership with Abhishek Sharma, who scored a record-breaking 108 runs off just 34 balls, leading India to a total of 221/7. India then bowled out Afghanistan for 94, winning the match by 127 runs and clinching the series 3-0.
