Sangram Singh Faces Florian Coudier Ahead of Anticipated MMA Fight

New Delhi, April 4: MMA star Sangram Singh and rising French fighter Florian Coudier met at the Buenos Aires Arena on Saturday, gearing up for their eagerly awaited match scheduled for April 5. While Sangram maintained a composed demeanor, Florian's excitement was palpable as he expressed his intent to keep Sangram on the defensive.

Florian has studied footage of Sangram's previous MMA bouts, and his coaching team has pointed out several of Sangram's vulnerabilities. The fight, weighing in at 83 kg, is set to commence at 6:20 PM local time on Sunday, which translates to around 3 AM Indian time on Monday. Notably, India's Ambassador to Argentina is expected to attend the event to support Sangram Singh, as indicated in a press release.

In contrast, double Commonwealth heavyweight champion Sangram Singh emphasized his belief in humility over boasting. As the first Indian to compete in combat sports in Argentina, he feels a significant responsibility and aims to uphold the country's reputation. He has consistently shown respect for his opponent and the sport itself.

Sangram has reiterated that true champions are defined not just by victories but by their relentless pursuit of excellence. Previously, during his MMA fights in Georgia and Amsterdam, he refrained from making grand claims and successfully established his presence in both events.

Currently, Sangram's primary challenge lies in managing his weight, as he has exceeded the limit by 100 grams. To address this, he has limited his water intake and dedicated extensive time training with his coach Bhupesh at La Macao Fitness Centre, focusing on shedding the excess weight. He humorously mentioned that he would indulge in the churma laddu from home only after meeting the weight requirement.

Reports indicate that professors from MDU conducted a Hawan ceremony in Amex City, Rohtak, while similar rituals are being held in over ten locations nationwide to wish him success in the upcoming fight.

The Samurai Fight House is organizing this highly anticipated bout, marking Sangram Singh's third MMA appearance. Having transitioned from traditional wrestling to MMA, he views this opportunity as a significant milestone, aiming to make every Indian proud on this prominent platform.

In the lead-up to the fight, Sangram has engaged in extensive yoga practice to enhance his flexibility. Under the guidance of coach Bhupesh Kumar, he has been integrating traditional techniques with modern training methods alongside his sparring partner. Coach Bhupesh noted that the team has focused on improving Sangram's transitions, ground control, striking combinations, and overall fitness, particularly in kickboxing, which is crucial for grappling and submission techniques.

The match will consist of three rounds, each lasting five minutes, necessitating rigorous conditioning and endurance training. Prior to arriving in Buenos Aires, Sangram underwent intensive training in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Delhi with a dedicated seven-member support team. He expressed gratitude for the time spent with coach Bhupesh, which has deepened his understanding of MMA.

Sangram Singh, a former Commonwealth heavyweight champion and the Fit India icon, has also served as a brand ambassador for the Government of India. His journey from an international-level Greco-Roman wrestler to a multifaceted personality, including roles as an actor, model, and motivational speaker, has been remarkable as he prepares for this significant MMA challenge.
