Samardeep Singh Gill's Remarkable Performance

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], December 5: Samardeep Singh Gill from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology has surpassed his own All India University (AIU) record in the men's Shot Put during the Khelo India University Games 2025, held at Sawai Man Singh Stadium.


After clinching the gold medal in Shot Put, Gill expressed, "My season has been outstanding... We aim to bring pride to India in upcoming major events... My family has been a great support to me..."


This year, Samardeep has triumphed over two-time Asian Games champion Tajinderpal Singh Toor on three occasions. He achieved a remarkable throw of 19.42m on his second attempt, securing the gold, while Aniket from Guru Kashi University finished second with a throw of 18.08m.


Previously holding the AIU record at 18.76m and the KIUG record at 18.75m, Samardeep has consistently thrown over 19 meters this year, showcasing his exceptional form in Jaipur.


The fifth edition of the KIUG 2025 is taking place across seven cities in Rajasthan, featuring 4,448 athletes from 222 universities competing in 23 medal events. The Games are organized by the Sports Authority of India in partnership with the Rajasthan State Sports Council and hosted by Poornima University.


As the competition nears its conclusion, Chandigarh University has solidified its position at the top of the medals table with a total of 41 medals, following their impressive performance in Canoe and Kayaking, where they secured seven gold medals on Thursday.


While Chandigarh University excelled in Canoe and Kayaking, a total of 12 new records were established in athletics over the four-day event.
