Sainyam's Remarkable Achievement in Hangzhou
In Hangzhou, China, Indian shooter Sainyam secured a silver medal in the Women's 10m Air Pistol event during the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun, marking India's first medal at this tournament.
Displaying remarkable composure in the intense final, Sainyam achieved a score of 243.4, earning her a spot on the podium against a competitive international field. She had previously qualified for the final with a score of 579.

Her impressive performance in Hangzhou follows her strong domestic results, where she triumphed in the 10m Air Pistol Trial 2 (T2) finals at the National Selection Trials in New Delhi, scoring 243.1. This victory further solidified her momentum after winning a silver medal at the ISSF World Cup Final in Doha.
The 22-year-old shooter from Chandigarh has steadily climbed the international ranks, previously earning gold medals at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl and the ISSF Junior World Championships in Changwon in 2023, along with a podium finish at the Khelo India Youth Games, reinforcing her position in the senior national team.
In other results from the event, Suruchi Inder Singh reached the final, finishing seventh with a score of 137.6 after qualifying with 579-20x. Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker led the Indian contingent in qualification with a score of 582-12x while competing under RPO (Ranking Points Only) status. Esha Singh placed 13th with 577-22x, and Lakshita scored 572-14x in her RPO outing.
