On December 17, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar met with the Indian Women’s Blind Cricket Team, who recently triumphed as T20 Blind Cricket World Cup champions, at the MIG Cricket Club in Mumbai.


Following their encounter, Tendulkar took to his X account to express his admiration. He praised the courage, discipline, and belief exhibited by the women’s team.


Tendulkar's Heartfelt Message

Tendulkar remarked, "While many possess eyesight, only a few have true vision. I had the privilege of meeting these extraordinary young women who have brought pride to India. Their courage and determination illustrate that the essence of the game is felt deeply, and nothing should prevent anyone from claiming it as their own. Through their resilience, they have transformed how we perceive the sport."

Historic Victory for India

The Indian women’s blind cricket team made history by clinching the Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind, achieving victory with a seven-wicket win against Nepal in Colombo.


Choosing to field first, the Indian bowlers showcased an impressive performance, restricting Nepal to 114 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. During the chase, Indian batters surpassed the 100-run mark within the first 10 overs, eliminating any threat from the opposition.


Outstanding Performances

Opener Phula Saren delivered a stellar performance, scoring 44 runs off 27 balls, which included four boundaries. Her innings led India to successfully chase the target in just 13 overs, securing the championship. Alongside her, opener Karuna K contributed significantly with a rapid 42 runs off 27 balls.


Saren's remarkable performance earned her the Player of the Match title. After the historic win, team captain Deepika TC expressed immense pride in their achievement, emphasizing the hard work put in by the entire team.

Impressive Tournament Journey

India commenced their tournament journey with a win over Sri Lanka. They then defeated Australia by 57 runs, as the Australians struggled to chase a target of 293 runs.


In a thrilling match against arch-rivals Pakistan, India chased down a target of 136 runs in just 10.2 overs. In the semi-finals, India dominated Australia, winning by nine wickets before sealing the trophy with a decisive victory over Nepal.
