A Record-Breaking Career
Sachin Tendulkar is widely acknowledged as one of the finest batsmen in cricket history. His impressive collection of records is unlikely to be surpassed by future players. He holds the record for the most centuries in Test matches, being the only player to achieve 50 hundreds in this format. Additionally, he leads in total runs scored in Tests, with a remarkable 1,894 runs and nine centuries in 1998 alone, a record that remains unbroken.
In One Day Internationals (ODIs), Tendulkar maintained the record for the most centuries for over ten years until it was surpassed by another prominent player. Nevertheless, his total of 18,426 runs in ODIs is a benchmark that may never be equaled. Overall, he is the sole cricketer to have scored 100 international centuries, maintaining a lead over the next closest player by 15 hundreds. His total international run tally stands at an astonishing 34,357 runs, a milestone that could take decades to match.
What sets Tendulkar apart is not just his scoring ability but also his remarkable career longevity. He played for 22 years, participating in over 463 ODIs and more than 200 Tests, while largely avoiding injuries, aside from a tennis elbow issue during the 2003-2024 season. This achievement is commendable in itself. Furthermore, he holds the record for the most Player of the Match awards (76), the highest number of fifties (264), the most nineties (28), and the greatest number of fours (4,076) across all formats.
