Glasgow [Scotland], July 27: Indian boxer Sachin Siwach has set his sights on winning a gold medal after successfully reaching the quarterfinals in the men's 60 kg category at the Commonwealth Games 2026 held in Glasgow on Monday.

Ranked fifth in the world, Siwach showcased his skills by defeating the promising English boxer William Hewitt, advancing him to the final eight, as reported by ESPN.

Siwach dominated the initial two rounds, winning each by a score of 4-1. In the decisive round, he delivered powerful punches, ultimately securing victory by a split decision, bringing him closer to a medal.

In an interview, Sachin Siwach expressed satisfaction with his performance against Hewitt, attributing his success to his coach's strategic advice. He emphasized that his goal extends beyond merely winning a medal; he is determined to clinch gold, stating his intention to remain thoroughly prepared and minimize errors during the competition.

“Everything went well thanks to my coach's guidance. My aim is not just to win a medal; I’m focused on gold. From the beginning, I committed to going for gold. My initial fights were challenging, but the later ones were less so. Nevertheless, I must stay fully prepared and avoid mistakes,” he remarked.

Siwach progressed to the Round of 16 in the men's 60kg division after defeating Canada's Keoma Al-Ahmadieh with a 4-1 split decision in the Round of 32.
