Rudrankksh Patil Gears Up for Asian Games

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) - Indian shooter Rudrankksh Patil is set to embark on a demanding journey at the upcoming Asian Games, where he will participate in several challenging events, aiming to showcase his best performance through a careful balance of training, recovery, and competition.

The Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, will see Indian shooters striving for record-breaking achievements.

Rudrankksh will compete in multiple events, including the men's 10m air rifle, the men's 10m air rifle team, the men's 50m rifle 3 positions, and the men's 50m rifle 3 positions team events. This marks his debut in a major multi-event competition, and he is focused on effectively managing his schedule and performance across all events.

In a recent conversation, Rudrankksh expressed his enthusiasm for participating in both events for the first time, noting that his preparation mirrors the approach he takes for World Cup competitions.

"This is my first time competing in both events, and I’m really excited. My preparation has been consistent with what I do for every World Cup. I have two World Cups lined up for both events, and my main goal is to manage them effectively to achieve optimal performance," he stated.

The talented shooter expressed confidence in his support team, emphasizing that he is adhering to the training and recovery plan designed for him.

"I believe my team is experienced enough to handle this, and I trust the process they have established for training and recovery. I’m simply following that plan, which is how my preparation is progressing," Rudrankksh added.

When discussing the pressure associated with the 10m air rifle event, where concentration and accuracy are vital, he mentioned that pressure serves as a motivator, enhancing his performance in critical competitions.

"I tend to become more focused during high-pressure events. This has been a consistent experience for me over the years, and I find excitement in pressure, which keeps me energized and engaged," he remarked.

Rudrankksh prefers to embrace pressure rather than shy away from it, as it helps him maintain focus on his process.

"I actively seek out pressure, and when it arises, I enjoy it. In high-pressure situations, my focus naturally sharpens, and I don’t need to do anything extra. I just follow my established process," he explained.

He also shared insights from senior shooters, highlighting the significance of remaining calm, concentrating on the present, and learning from seasoned athletes.

"Many of my seniors have been in the sport for 20-25 years. I’ve been part of the team for six to seven years and have been shooting for nearly nine years. Observing them, I see how relaxed they are about almost everything," he noted.

Rudrankksh added that senior athletes assist younger competitors in navigating challenging phases by sharing their experiences.

"For us, overcoming negative situations becomes easier because they guide us in advance about potential challenges and how to address them," he concluded.

Rudrankksh has made a name for himself in the 10m air rifle event, having secured a gold medal in the individual category at the 2022 ISSF World Championships in Cairo.

In 2023, he continued his success by winning gold in the individual 10m air rifle event at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo and also clinched gold in the mixed team event alongside R Narmada Nithin.

At the Hangzhou Asian Games 2022, he was part of the Indian men's 10m air rifle team that won gold, alongside Divyansh Singh Panwar and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar.

In 2025, he added another gold medal in the individual 10m air rifle event at the ISSF World Cup in Buenos Aires and secured a silver medal in the mixed team event with Arya Rajesh Borse.

Most recently, at the 2026 Asian Shooting Championships in New Delhi, Rudrankksh won gold medals in both the individual 10m air rifle and men's 10m air rifle team events, further solidifying his credentials ahead of significant international competitions.
