Following the Mumbai Indians' (MI) disappointing performance in IPL 2026, Rohit Sharma is set for a significant break. The team, which has clinched the IPL title five times, could only secure four victories this season, finishing ninth with a total of 8 points. They struggled to achieve consecutive wins throughout the tournament. As MI's season concludes, fans are keen to learn when Rohit will return to the field. Fortunately, he is expected to participate in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, scheduled for June 14, 17, and 20. However, Rohit must first demonstrate his fitness, having sustained a hamstring injury during a match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, from which he returned a couple of weeks later. Upon his return, he played as an Impact Player, prompting the BCCI to require him to pass a fitness test. MI's captain, Hardik Pandya, is also required to clear this test.
