Rohit Sharma's Spectacular Comeback

In a remarkable return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after a seven-year hiatus, Rohit Sharma showcased his batting prowess for Mumbai against Sikkim at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. He played a pivotal role in leading his team to victory by scoring a stunning century.

Chasing a target of 237 runs in the 50-over match, Rohit opened the innings and immediately took charge against the Sikkim bowlers. In front of an enthusiastic crowd, he reached his century in just 62 balls, hitting eight sixes and eight fours, marking his fastest century in List A cricket. This achievement surpassed his previous record of a 63-ball century against Afghanistan during the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Rohit concluded his innings with an impressive 155 runs off 94 balls, including 18 fours and nine sixes, propelling Mumbai to an emphatic eight-wicket victory, achieving the target in just 30.3 overs. His outstanding performance earned him the 'Player of the Match' title.

Additionally, Rohit matched Australian cricketer David Warner for the most 150-plus scores in List A cricket, with both players now having nine such scores.

Earlier in the match, Sikkim batted first but could only manage 236 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Wicketkeeper Ashish Thapa was the standout performer for Sikkim, scoring 79 runs off 84 balls.

In another match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Virat Kohli made headlines for Delhi against Andhra. He scored a century off 83 balls, leading his team to chase down a target of 299 runs. Kohli's innings included 14 fours and three sixes, totaling 131 runs off 101 balls.

With this performance, Virat became the second Indian after Sachin Tendulkar to surpass 16,000 runs in List A cricket, joining an elite group of only nine players to achieve this milestone. He also recorded his 58th List A century, now just three centuries shy of Sachin's record of 60. Notably, Kohli reached this milestone in just 330 innings, compared to Tendulkar's 391 innings.
