Rohit Sharma's Milestone in ODI Cricket

Rohit Sharma is poised to mark another significant milestone in his cricketing journey as he prepares to face Afghanistan in the second ODI of their three-match series on June 17. With this match, Rohit will surpass Rahul Dravid, becoming the fourth-most capped Indian player in history. Currently, both players share this position, but with Rohit's participation, he will take sole ownership of the fourth spot, pushing Dravid down to fifth. Rohit is now exclusively focused on ODI cricket, having retired from T20I in 2024 and Test cricket in 2025.

Rohit made his international debut in an ODI against Ireland back in June 2007. He was part of the squad that clinched the T20 World Cup under MS Dhoni's captaincy in 2007. Although he was in contention for the 2011 ODI World Cup, he did not make the final 15. However, Dhoni's unwavering support helped him secure a place in the starting XI after he was assigned the opening role in white-ball formats in 2013. Rohit has continued to open for India in ODIs and became the permanent opener in Test matches in 2019.

To date, Rohit has participated in 283 ODIs, 67 Tests, and 159 T20Is, concluding his Test career with a total of 4,301 runs and 4,231 runs in T20Is. He led India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Sachin Tendulkar Leads the All-Time List

Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for the most matches played by an Indian player, with a staggering total of 664 international appearances. His career includes 200 Tests, 463 ODIs, and one T20I, culminating in his retirement in 2013. Following him is Virat Kohli, who has played 559 matches and is currently active only in ODIs. MS Dhoni ranks third with 538 matches, having played his last game for India in 2019 before retiring a year later.
