Rohit Sharma Predicts Tough Challenge for England in Upcoming Ashes Series
Rohit Sharma's Insights on the Ashes Series
New Delhi [India] April 16: Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma expressed his belief that Australia will pose significant challenges for England in the forthcoming Ashes series scheduled for November this year.
During an appearance on the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast, Sharma pointed out the formidable nature of Australia's bowling lineup, especially their fast bowlers, and stressed the necessity of maintaining their fitness throughout the series.
"I genuinely think Australia will present a tough challenge for England. Absolutely. The Australians are adept at playing in their home conditions, and several of their players are in excellent form. If England struggles to get past their three leading fast bowlers, it will be extremely difficult for them. A key factor for Australia will be ensuring these bowlers remain fit," Rohit Sharma remarked while discussing with Michael Clarke on the YouTube channel, Beyond23 Cricket Podcast.
Sharma also highlighted that bowler Scott Boland is particularly challenging to face due to his consistent line and length, which offers minimal scoring opportunities.
"Boland was the toughest bowler to contend with in those conditions. We analyzed his pitch map to identify scoring areas, and 90% of his deliveries were consistently placed. There was hardly any width or full-length balls, just a few," he noted.
The Ashes series for 2025-26 is set to take place from November 2025 to January 2026 in Australia. This five-match series will be part of the 2025-2027 ICC World Test Championship.
Australia enters the series as the defending champions, having won the 2021-22 series and drawn in 2023. The first match is scheduled to commence on November 21, 2025, at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
