Rohit Sharma Prepares for IPL 2026

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 17: Renowned Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma is making strides as he prepares for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The star player has rejoined the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad and has begun his training regimen.


In a recent Instagram video, the 38-year-old can be seen showcasing his signature powerful shots while donning the Mumbai Indians training kit.


Sharma boasts an impressive record with six IPL titles to his name, including one with the Deccan Chargers and five as the captain of the Mumbai franchise, making him one of the most successful captains in IPL history.


Having joined the Mumbai Indians in 2011, he took over as captain in 2013. Under his leadership, MI clinched their first IPL title in his debut season as captain and continued to lead the team for 11 years until Hardik Pandya took over for the 2024 season.


As MI's leading run-scorer, Rohit is among the elite group of players who have surpassed 6000 runs in the IPL. His standout season came in 2013 when he amassed 538 runs during MI's title-winning campaign.


In 2015, he was named Player of the Final as MI triumphed over Chennai Super Kings to secure their second IPL title. The team also celebrated victories in 2017, 2019, and 2020 under his captaincy.


This Monday marked the official start of MI's pre-season training, kicking off their preparations for the 2026 season.


Head coach Mahela Jayawardene led the initial training session, supported by bowling coaches Paras Mhambrey and Lasith Malinga, along with fielding coach Carl Hopkinson and the entire strength and conditioning and physiotherapy teams, as per a recent announcement.
