Rohit Sharma Approaches Milestone in Upcoming ODI Series

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], November 28: Former Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma is on the verge of becoming the fourth Indian batsman to reach the remarkable milestone of 20,000 international runs. He is set to make his return to the pitch in a three-match ODI series against South Africa, commencing on November 30 at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi.

Currently, Rohit has accumulated 19,902 runs across 502 international matches. His impressive tally includes 4,301 runs from 67 Test matches, 4,231 runs in T20 Internationals, and 11,370 runs in One Day Internationals.

He is just 98 runs shy of joining an elite group that features legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Rahul Dravid.

Tendulkar holds the record with 34,357 runs, followed by Kohli with 27,673 runs and Dravid with 24,064 runs.

After retiring from T20Is post the 2024 World Cup and stepping back from Test cricket in May, the Mumbai batsman now focuses solely on ODIs. Following the series against South Africa, he is anticipated to participate in the ODI matches against New Zealand at home.

Rohit enters the South Africa series with confidence, having recently scored a solid century against Australia in Sydney, where he made an unbeaten 121 runs off 125 balls, leading India to a consolation victory after trailing 2-0 in the ODI series. His innings featured 13 fours and three sixes.

Virat Kohli, who, like Rohit, is now exclusively playing ODIs, is also gearing up to return for the series against South Africa. Both players will be under pressure to deliver strong performances as India aims to recover from a disappointing 2-0 defeat against the Proteas at home earlier this week.
