Remarkable Performances in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) witnessed an extraordinary display of talent as Reliance Foundation athletes made headlines during the 65th Inter-State Athletics Championships held on Saturday.

Ancy Sojan stole the spotlight by shattering the long-standing national record in the women's long jump, previously held by Anju Bobby George for 22 years, with an impressive jump of 6.88m, as reported in a press release.

After securing her spot for the Asian Games, Ancy expressed her gratitude, stating, "The training facilities and infrastructure are exceptional. Reliance Foundation Sports has enhanced my experience with international competitions. They provide comprehensive support, from nutrition to equipment. Even in times of setbacks or injuries, their unwavering belief in our potential to win medals for India is inspiring."

Animesh Kujur showcased his sprinting prowess by clinching gold in both the 200m and 100m events. The 100m race featured a remarkable 1-2 finish for Reliance Foundation, with Pranav Gurav taking the silver medal behind Animesh.

In addition to Ancy, Yashas P (men's 400m hurdles), Anu Raghavan (women's 400m hurdles), and Aadarsh Ram (men's high jump) also earned their qualifications for the Asian Games.

Defending champion Yashas set a new meet record, surpassing his previous best with a time of 49.14s in a thrilling photo finish.

Veteran sprinter Anu Raghavan is set to return to the Asian Games after an eight-year hiatus, making a remarkable comeback from an elbow dislocation last month to secure silver and her ticket to Aichi-Nagoya. She previously won bronze in the same 400m hurdles event at the continental championship eight years ago.
