RCB Triumphs Over MI Despite Kohli's Injury Concerns
RCB Secures Victory Against MI
In the IPL 2026, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) maintained their impressive performance by clinching their third victory, defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) by 18 runs at Wankhede Stadium on April 12 (Sunday). However, the win was overshadowed by concerns regarding Virat Kohli, who sustained an ankle injury and was unable to participate in the second innings while RCB bowled. This situation raises doubts about his participation in the upcoming match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 15 (Wednesday). Teammate Krunal Pandya has shared an optimistic update.
Krunal Pandya Assures Kohli's Recovery
During the post-match press conference, Krunal Pandya expressed confidence in Kohli's recovery, stating that he had not yet consulted the team physiotherapist but believed Kohli would be fine. "I haven’t spoken to the physio yet, but I think he (Kohli) will be fine. So, I guess there’s nothing to worry about," Pandya remarked. Earlier, RCB coach Rajat Patidar also mentioned that Kohli appeared to be doing well, indicating no immediate cause for concern. "I don’t know yet, but I feel that he’s okay right now," Patidar commented.
Match Summary: RCB vs MI
RCB batted first after losing the toss, setting a formidable target of 240 runs. Phil Salt led the charge with a remarkable 78 off 36 balls, supported by Rajat Patidar's quickfire 53 off 20 balls, and Virat Kohli contributed a solid 50 off 38 balls. Tim David also showcased his prowess in the final overs, scoring 34 off 16 balls. In response, MI faced an early setback with Rohit Sharma retiring injured after scoring 19 runs in the sixth over. Although Ryan Rickleton (32 off 17), Hardik Pandya (41 off 21), and Suryakumar Yadav (33 off 22) made contributions, they couldn't convert their starts into significant scores. Sherfane Rutherford's impressive 71 off 31 balls marked his first IPL half-century, but it was insufficient as MI ended their innings at 222, falling short by 18 runs.
