Historic Match for RCB

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) achieved a significant milestone by playing their 100th match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during their sixth encounter of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) against Delhi Capitals (DC). The defending champions have had an impressive start to the season, currently sitting second on the points table with four victories out of five matches, accumulating eight points. Their only loss came against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Guwahati. At home, RCB has been dominant, winning all three of their matches played at Chinnaswamy, defeating teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

RCB's 100 Matches at Home

Today marks a historic occasion as RCB becomes the first team in IPL history to reach the century mark of matches played at a single venue. Other teams like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have also played over 90 matches at their respective home grounds.

Most Matches Played At Home Venue In IPL History
Team Matches Played Venue Won Lost No Result
RCB 100 M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru 49 46 4
KKR 98 Eden Gardens in Kolkata 54 42 2
MI 95 Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai 58 37 0
DC 89 Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi 89 39 49

Interestingly, this match coincides with the 18th anniversary of RCB's first game at the venue, which took place on April 18, 2008, during the inaugural IPL season. The first match featured RCB against KKR, and Virat Kohli remains the only player who has participated in both matches. Overall, RCB has played 109 matches at Chinnaswamy, including nine games during the Champions League T20 in 2009 and 2011, with a record of 54 wins and 50 losses across all competitions.

Globally, 15 teams have played more matches than RCB at their home ground, all of which are English county teams in the T20 Blast, the first-ever competition in the T20 format. This season, RCB will play five out of their seven home games at Chinnaswamy, making today's match the second to last at this venue, with their final home game against Gujarat Titans (GT) scheduled for April 24. The last two home matches against KKR and MI will take place at Raipur's Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium. However, RCB may return to Chinnaswamy for the playoffs, depending on the BCCI's confirmation of venues and dates. The stadium previously hosted the IPL final in 2014, where KKR triumphed over Kings XI Punjab, and the 2016 final, where RCB faced a heartbreaking defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
