After a week-long break, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are set to return to the field to face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Thursday, May 7. The match will take place at the Ekana Stadium, starting at 7:30 PM IST. All eyes will be on Virat Kohli, who previously held the Orange Cap but has now slipped to ninth place with 379 runs across seven innings. Currently, RCB stands third in the points table with six victories out of nine matches, accumulating 12 points and an impressive net run rate (NRR) of +1.420. This solid NRR positions them ahead of teams like Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT). A win against LSG would elevate RCB to the top of the table.

At present, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lead the table with 14 points and an NRR of +0.737. If RCB secures a victory over LSG, they will gain two points and surpass SRH due to their superior NRR. Conversely, a loss would keep RCB in third place, and they could drop further only if they face a significant defeat against LSG.

On the other hand, LSG has struggled this season, managing only two wins in nine matches, leaving them at the bottom of the table with just four points. A loss in this match would eliminate them from contention, marking them as the first team to exit IPL 2026.

Recently, the Punjab Kings (PBKS), led by Shreyas Iyer, fell to second place after their defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 6, now holding 13 points with an NRR of +0.571. Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans are in fifth place with 12 points, while the Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians occupy the sixth to ninth positions, respectively.
