RCB Achieves Historic Double with IPL and WPL Titles
RCB's Remarkable Achievement in Indian Cricket
Vadodara (Gujarat) [India], February 5: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have solidified their status as a powerhouse in Indian franchise cricket by securing both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Women’s Premier League (WPL) championships.
The Bengaluru franchise claimed the IPL title in the 2025 season, led by Rajat Patidar. Meanwhile, their women's team triumphed in the WPL during the 2024 and 2026 seasons.
RCB's journey to glory began in 2025 when they finally lifted their first IPL trophy after an 18-year wait, defeating Punjab Kings in a nail-biting final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This victory was particularly special as it was dedicated to their star player, Virat Kohli, who has been with the team since the IPL's inception in 2008.
Following this success, the women's team, under the captaincy of Smriti Mandhana, continued to rise, aiming for their second title.
In the WPL 2026 final, RCB faced off against Delhi Capitals in a highly anticipated rematch of the 2024 championship, where RCB had previously emerged victorious to claim their first WPL title.
The final match saw Mandhana's team make history by defeating the Delhi Capitals by six wickets at the BCA Stadium.
Mandhana delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 87 runs and forming a crucial partnership of 165 runs for the second wicket with Georgia Voll, who contributed 79 runs off 54 balls, leading RCB to their second trophy.
Mandhana's score of 87 also set a record for the highest individual score in a WPL final.
Chasing a target of 204 runs, Mandhana's team made history, surpassing the previous record held by RCB, who had chased down 202 runs against the Gujarat Giants last year.
