Ravi Bishnoi's New Chapter with Rajasthan Royals
Abu Dhabi [UAE], December 16: Indian leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi expressed his enthusiasm after being acquired by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) during the IPL 2026 auction. He highlighted the significance of bowling alongside seasoned all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, stating it would be a valuable learning opportunity.
Bishnoi, who had a base price of Rs 2 crore, was sold for an impressive Rs 7.4 crore. The bidding for him was competitive, with teams like CSK, RR, and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vying for his services, ultimately leading to his signing with the Royals. In his T20I career, Bishnoi has taken 61 wickets in 42 matches, boasting an average of 19.37 and two four-wicket hauls.
During the 'Match Centre Live Auction 2026', Bishnoi shared his excitement about joining his home team for the upcoming season. He remarked, “Playing for my home team is a dream come true. Bowling with Ravindra Jadeja will be incredibly beneficial for my growth as a player, given his extensive experience and status as one of the top all-rounders in the game.”
He also mentioned the favorable conditions at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, noting that the long boundaries would be advantageous for their performance in the IPL.
In other auction news, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a staggering Rs 25.20 crores, making him the third-most expensive player in IPL history and the highest-priced overseas player ever.
The bidding for Green was intense, with the Royals initially dropping out at around Rs 13 crores. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) entered the fray, driving the price above Rs 20 crores, before KKR secured him with a final bid of Rs 25.20 crores.
Green has an impressive record, having scored 521 runs in 21 T20I matches at an average of 32.56, with a strike rate of 160.30, including six fifties. In total, he has amassed 1,334 runs in 63 T20 matches, averaging 33.35 with a strike rate of 151.07, alongside 28 wickets.
Previously, Green played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 2023 and 2024 IPL seasons, accumulating 707 runs in 29 matches at an average of 41.58. However, he missed last season's auction due to an injury.
Despite the hefty winning bid of Rs 25.2 crore, Green's earnings for the IPL 2026 season will be capped at Rs 18 crore.
