Rajasthan Royals Face Setback Against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], April 14: After a significant defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag described the loss as merely a "blip" in their campaign. He emphasized that there isn't much time to dwell on emotions, praising the team's batting resilience, particularly highlighted by a century partnership between Ravindra Jadeja and Donovan Ferreira after the team lost five wickets within the first three overs.

Pacers Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain from Vidarbha and Bihar played crucial roles in halting RR's winning momentum, as the team was bowled out for 159 runs. In contrast, SRH scored 216/6, thanks to a stellar 91 runs off 44 balls from their captain Ishan Kishan. This defeat marked the end of RR's four-match winning streak, while SRH celebrated their second victory, improving their record to two wins and three losses. Despite this setback, RR remains at the top of the table, while SRH has climbed to fourth place.

During the post-match interview, Riyan reflected on the batting collapse, stating, "We don't have much time to feel emotions. Credit goes to their bowling. We made a few errors. The pitch was decent; perhaps batting second would have been advantageous. It was tricky with the new ball, but it slowed down after the shine wore off. In hindsight, we could have performed better."

He added, "Despite being five wickets down for just nine runs, reaching 160 shows our batting depth. This is just a minor setback. We look forward to our next match in Kolkata and aim for improvement."

On the performance of SRH's uncapped bowlers, he mentioned having played against Sakib while representing Assam against Bihar. "I haven't seen them much in domestic cricket. I faced Sakib once, and they bowled exceptionally well. The pressure from the home crowd and their performance was impressive," he concluded.

Batting first, SRH set a formidable target of 216/6, primarily driven by Ishan's explosive innings (91 runs in 44 balls, including eight fours and six sixes), along with contributions from Heinrich Klaasen (40 runs in 26 balls) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (28 runs in 13 balls). In their chase for 217 runs, RR's top order crumbled under pressure, with debutant Praful taking 4 wickets for 34 runs in four overs, leaving RR struggling at 9/5. Although Donovan Ferreira (69 runs in 44 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (45 runs in 32 balls) formed a century partnership to boost the net run rate, RR ultimately fell short, bowled out for 159, with Sakib claiming 4 wickets for 24 runs.
