Explosive Performance by RR Openers

In a thrilling encounter at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Rajasthan Royals (RR) openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi wreaked havoc on the bowling attack of the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, Mumbai Indians (MI), following a rain delay on April 6. Sooryavanshi made a remarkable impact with a quickfire 39 runs off just 14 balls, while Jaiswal remained unbeaten at 77 in a match reduced to 11 overs per side. Sooryavanshi's first-ball six against renowned fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah left spectators in awe, prompting a smile from Bumrah as he resumed his bowling. After RR secured a convincing 27-run victory, Jaiswal shared his thoughts on Sooryavanshi's explosive start, stating, 'First ball, he hit him for a six, and I told him to just keep playing his shots.'

Even before Bumrah took to the bowling crease, RR was already off to a rapid start. Jaiswal expressed that Sooryavanshi's performance against Bumrah inspired confidence against other bowlers. 'Of course, Bumrah bhai is one of the legends, so if he’s scoring against him, it’s amazing. It made us feel that other bowlers we can also take down,' the 24-year-old remarked. He added that Sooryavanshi's aggressive play relieved pressure off him, allowing him to target other bowlers effectively. The duo amassed an impressive 80 runs in just five overs, with Sooryavanshi hitting five sixes and a four before departing. He emphasized their shared goal of providing a strong start for the team, saying, 'It's amazing to bat with Vaibhav. We both like to play our shots, so the way we're playing, we just keep passing positive messages to each other.'

Jaiswal's outstanding innings of 77 runs off 32 balls, featuring four sixes and ten fours, propelled RR to a formidable total of 150/3 in 11 overs, earning him the 'Player of the Match' accolade.
