Weather Halts Play in Opening Test

The second day of the first Test match between India and Sri Lanka faced interruptions due to persistent rain, preventing the visiting team from taking the field on Sunday.

On the first day of the Test, Devdutt Padikkal made headlines by scoring his first Test century, helping India to a strong position at 288/2 by the end of the day.

Padikkal concluded the day unbeaten at 131 runs off 178 deliveries, featuring 12 boundaries and a six, while Rishabh Pant supported him with an unbeaten 27 runs from 36 balls, including two fours.

KL Rahul, a seasoned opener, had to retire hurt after scoring 77 runs, having formed a significant 150-run partnership with Padikkal. The duo had put India in a commanding position before Rahul had to exit the game due to arm cramps.

Unfortunately, rain continued to disrupt play for the second consecutive day, with the second and third sessions on the opening day also affected by weather conditions.
