Rahul Chahar's Exciting Return to Surrey

London [UK], March 26: Indian leg spinner Rahul Chahar is set to rejoin Surrey for the final eight matches of the County Championship this summer.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the return, Chahar stated, “I’m thrilled to be back at Surrey this season. My brief stint in 2025 was enjoyable, and I eagerly accepted the chance to return after discussing it with Alec Stewart.”

He further added, “Surrey is a prestigious club, and I aim to contribute to the team’s success in 2026.”

Chahar made a remarkable debut for Surrey last September, taking 10 wickets in a stunning victory against Hampshire. He will be available for the last eight matches, starting with the encounter against Hampshire at the Kia Oval on June 7, according to the Surrey cricket website.

In his only appearance for the club last year, Chahar showcased his skillful and inventive bowling, claiming eight wickets in the second innings, which helped Surrey secure a notable win.

His figures of 8/51 are the best by a debutant in the club's history, surpassing the previous record of 7/61 set by William Mudie in 1859.

The 26-year-old leg spinner currently plays for Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy and has represented India in seven white-ball matches, accumulating 101 wickets in 27 first-class games.

Chahar began his IPL career with Rising Pune Supergiants, but it was with the Mumbai Indians that he truly flourished, playing a crucial role in their victories in the 2019 and 2020 IPL seasons. He was acquired by the Punjab Kings in 2022 and later moved to the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2023. He is set to join the Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2026, starting March 28.
