Quetta Gladiators Triumph in PSL Match
Rawalpindi, Pakistan - April 12: The Quetta Gladiators achieved a commanding 80-run victory against Peshawar Zalmi in the second match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Batting first after being invited, Quetta Gladiators amassed a total of 216 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The opening duo of Saud Shakeel and Finn Allen set a solid foundation, contributing 88 runs in just 7.1 overs. Saud scored 59 runs off 42 balls, while Allen made 53 runs off 25 deliveries, showcasing an aggressive batting style.
Allen particularly targeted the Zalmi bowlers, scoring 22 runs in a single over against Sufyan Moqim before being dismissed on the last ball of that over, as reported by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Hasan Nawaz added 41 runs from 32 balls before being dismissed by Alzarri Joseph. Saud Shakeel was out in the 16th over, falling to Ali Raza, who claimed his first PSL wicket.
Quetta finished their innings strongly, with Rilee Rossouw scoring an unbeaten 21 off 10 balls and Kusal Mendis contributing 35 runs off just 14 balls, helping the team score 44 runs in the final three overs.
In response, Peshawar Zalmi faced early setbacks, losing their captain Babar Azam for a two-ball duck to Mohammad Amir in the first over. Abrar Ahmed then struck, dismissing both Mohammad Haris and Tom Kohler-Cadmore in the same over, leaving Zalmi struggling at 30 for three.
Saim Ayub, making a comeback, managed to score a fighting fifty off 38 balls, hitting three fours and four sixes, but was dismissed shortly after reaching his milestone.
Hussain Talat contributed 35 runs off 19 balls, including two sixes against Shoaib Malik, before being dismissed by Usman Tariq. The mystery spinner also took the wicket of Max Bryant on the very next ball, finishing with impressive figures of two wickets.
Peshawar Zalmi could only reach 136 runs in 15.1 overs.
