Sindhu's Struggles Continue

PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, experienced her second consecutive loss to world number one An Se Young at the Indonesia Open on Thursday.

Having previously fallen to the South Korean in the quarterfinals of the Singapore Open last week, Sindhu displayed moments of brilliance but ultimately succumbed with scores of 17-21, 14-21 in the round of 16.

This latest defeat marks the tenth consecutive loss for Sindhu against the reigning Olympic champion, leaving her still searching for her first victory over An.

The match began competitively, with both players tied at 10-10 in the first game. Sindhu showed flashes of her top form, applying pressure on her opponent at various points.

She briefly took the lead at 15-14 through some aggressive play, but An quickly countered, scoring several points to establish a 19-16 advantage.

The Korean player then clinched the first game by winning two straight points, including a lengthy rally of 41 shots.

Carrying her momentum into the second game, An swiftly built a 13-6 lead.

Despite being on the defensive, Sindhu fought hard to close the gap at times.

However, An's consistent performance and exceptional court coverage ultimately secured her victory, allowing her to progress to the quarterfinals.
