Exciting Matches at the Hylo Open 2026
Berlin, Germany - On October 31, two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu and emerging Indian player Anmol Kharb have set the stage for an all-Indian women's singles semi-final at the Hylo Open 2026.
In the men's singles category, Lakshya Sen also made headlines by advancing to the semi-finals of the BWF Super 500 tournament. He achieved this by overcoming Finland's Kalle Koljonen after losing the first game, as reported by a sports news outlet.
Second-seeded PV Sindhu showcased her skills by defeating Denmark's Amalie Schulz with a convincing score of 21-12, 21-10 in just 28 minutes, securing her spot in the semi-finals.
Sindhu controlled the match from the beginning, never allowing Schulz to gain an advantage in either game, thus ensuring a straightforward victory.
This win marks Sindhu's second consecutive victory over Schulz, having previously triumphed in their earlier encounter at the Thailand Open this year.
Meanwhile, Anmol Kharb faced off against sixth seed Unnati Hooda in a thrilling quarter-final that lasted 68 minutes, ultimately winning 21-17, 18-21, 21-16.
This match was the first encounter between the two 19-year-olds on the BWF World Tour.
The first game was tightly contested, with the score tied at 6-6 before Anmol surged ahead to take it 21-17.
Unnati responded in the second game, establishing a 15-11 lead. Although Anmol fought back to tie the score at 18-18, Unnati clinched the next three points to force a deciding game.
In the final game, Unnati initially led 6-3, but Anmol gradually closed the gap to 12-11 before unleashing a remarkable run of eight consecutive points, taking a commanding 19-12 lead. Despite Unnati's late efforts, Anmol secured the game 21-16, advancing to the semi-finals.
In the men's singles, seventh seed Lakshya Sen made a remarkable comeback against Kalle Koljonen, winning 14-21, 21-17, 21-13 in a match that lasted over an hour.
The first game was closely contested until 6-6, after which Koljonen took control to gain an early lead.
Lakshya rebounded in the second game, taking an early lead and maintaining it despite Koljonen's attempts to catch up, leveling the match.
The final game started evenly at 4-4, but Lakshya then pulled ahead with four consecutive points, maintaining his lead to secure the victory.
This semi-final appearance marks Lakshya's first individual BWF World Tour last-four finish since his runner-up position at the All England Open in March.
