New Delhi [India], August 3: A remarkable performance from captain Anuj Rawat and Dev Lakra propelled Purani Dilli 6 to their inaugural win in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, defeating West Delhi Lions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday.


The West Delhi Lions set a challenging target of 180 runs, thanks to a stellar innings from Ankit Kumar, who scored an impressive 86 runs off just 45 balls, featuring eight fours and five sixes.


The Lions started strong, with openers Ankit Kumar and Krish Yadav forming a formidable 90-run partnership for the first wicket during the powerplay. Krish contributed a solid 43 runs from 31 balls, including seven fours and a six, before his wicket shifted the momentum back to Purani Dilli 6.


Despite losing wickets at regular intervals after the opening stand, Ankit anchored the innings with an aggressive approach, finding boundaries consistently. However, the absence of significant partnerships in the latter stages limited the Lions to a total of 180 runs. Pankaj Jaswal stood out among the Purani Dilli 6 bowlers, taking 2 wickets for 30 runs in his four overs, while the rest of the bowling lineup provided crucial breakthroughs.
