Punjab's Squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy Unveiled

On Monday, the Punjab cricket team revealed its lineup for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, including Indian ODI captain Shubman Gill, the world's top T20 batter Abhishek Sharma, and fast bowler Arshdeep Singh. This selection aligns with the BCCI's directive mandating participation in the National One-Day Championship.

Gill, who was omitted from India's T20 World Cup roster, along with Arshdeep, a consistent performer in white-ball formats, may only be available for a couple of matches due to upcoming ODIs against New Zealand starting January 11.

Punjab is placed in Group C alongside strong contenders Mumbai and will kick off their campaign with matches against Maharashtra on December 24 and Chhattisgarh on December 26, where Gill and Arshdeep are expected to participate.

Abhishek Sharma, primarily called up for T20 internationals, could potentially play in more matches.

The highly anticipated clash between Mumbai and Punjab is scheduled for January 8 in Jaipur, but both Gill and Mumbai's Rohit Sharma are expected to miss this encounter.
