Inter Kashi, on the other hand, remains in eighth place with 11 points from nine matches, while Zeljkovic was honored as the Player of the Match.
Punjab started strong, showcasing their attacking prowess early on, with Bede Osuji playing a pivotal role. Within the first ten minutes, Osuji's clever backheel flicks set up Dani Ramirez for two opportunities, but Inter Kashi's goalkeeper, Lluis Tarres, was quick to respond and thwarted both attempts.
The home side continued to control the game, with Manglenthang Kipgen orchestrating play from midfield, while Nsungusi Jr and Osuji consistently troubled Inter Kashi's defense. Despite Punjab's dominance, Inter Kashi had a few chances, with Tomba Singh and Narender Gahlot coming close from set pieces.
The breakthrough came in the 37th minute through a well-executed play. Pramveer Singh regained possession near the halfway line and initiated an attack down the left, finding Osuji, who combined effectively with Nsungusi Jr in the box. After a brief tussle, Nsungusi squared the ball to Zeljkovic, who calmly finished with his right foot, giving Punjab a well-deserved lead.
Inter Kashi tried to respond before halftime, with Alfred Planas and Sergio Llamas linking up well, but Arshdeep Singh remained composed in goal, ensuring Punjab maintained their lead into the break.
Shortly after the restart, Punjab doubled their advantage in the 51st minute, taking advantage of a midfield error. Dani Ramirez intercepted the ball and charged into the box from the left, evading defenders before setting up Nsungusi Jr, who finished clinically from close range to make it 2-0.
Punjab kept up their intensity, pressing high and limiting Inter Kashi's chances. Defenders Pramveer and Bijoy V. were particularly effective, cutting off passing lanes and thwarting potential counter-attacks.
The third goal came in the 72nd minute when substitute Leon Augustine surged forward from the left and delivered a precise pass to Osuji, who turned sharply in the box and fired a powerful right-footed shot into the top corner, leaving Tarres with no chance.
With a comfortable lead, Punjab managed the remainder of the match with poise, continuing to press and maintain their defensive structure. Inter Kashi struggled to penetrate, often resorting to long balls that were effectively handled by Punjab's defense.
Punjab nearly scored a fourth goal late in the game, with Vinit Rai hitting the woodwork during stoppage time, while Ranjeet Singh Pandre was denied in a one-on-one situation by a crucial defensive play.
At the final whistle, Punjab FC celebrated a convincing 3-0 victory, securing three vital points that keep them close to the top half of the table, while Inter Kashi will need to regroup after a match where they failed to convert opportunities into significant chances.
