PSL 2026 Faces Commentary Shake-Up as Nick Knight Joins IPL Team

PSL 2026 Kicks Off Amid IPL Competition

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 commenced on March 26, coinciding with the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, a trend that has continued since last year. Over the past year, numerous players have opted out of PSL contracts to participate in the IPL as injury replacements. This year, three players have already made that transition. In a further setback for the PSL, a prominent figure from its commentary team has also decided to join the IPL 2026.

Former England cricketer Nick Knight was initially part of the PSL 2026 commentary lineup, which included notable names like Carlos Brathwaite, Lisa Sthalekar, and Wasim Akram. However, with the announcement of the IPL 2026 commentary panel, Knight's name appeared among the elite commentators, joining the ranks of AB de Villiers, Eoin Morgan, and Ravi Shastri, among others.

Ravichandran Ashwin's Commentary Debut in IPL 2026

Ravichandran Ashwin is making a comeback in the IPL during its 19th season. After retiring from the league in 2025, he will take on a new role this year as a commentator. Ashwin is set to make his debut in the commentary box, contributing to the Hindi commentary team. Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the IPL, has released the list of commentators for the season, and Ashwin will be joined by former teammates such as Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, and Virender Sehwag.
