Priyansh Arya Shatters Records in IPL Match Against Delhi Capitals
Exciting Clash at HPCA Stadium
On May 11, Punjab Kings (PBKS) faced off against Delhi Capitals (DC) at their temporary home, the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Batting first, PBKS started strong, with openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh aggressively attacking the bowlers. Arya, in particular, shone brightly, reaching his half-century during the powerplay. Notably, he achieved a remarkable milestone at the very beginning of the innings.
Priyansh Arya struck the first ball of the match for an impressive six, executing a stunning inside-out shot over extra cover. This marks the second occasion Arya has hit the first ball of a match for a six, having previously done so in IPL 2025 against CSK, bowled by Khaleel Ahmed.
Here’s a list of players who have hit the first ball of a match for a six in IPL history:

Arya's Record-Breaking Performance

Additionally, Arya is the second Indian, following Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, to achieve a half-century within the powerplay on three occasions. In this innings, he scored 56 runs off 33 balls, featuring three fours and six sixes. Arya was the second wicket to fall, giving debutant Madhav Tiwari his first IPL wicket.
