PM Modi Celebrates Indian Athletes' Success at Asian Games 2026
Prime Minister's Congratulations to Medal Winners
On October 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Indian athletes Prince Noble, Manu Francis, and Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru, along with the Indian women's squash team, for their impressive performances at the Asian Games 2026.
In the men's skiff event, sailors Manu Francis and Prince Kurisinkal Noble secured a silver medal after finishing second in Race 9 with a total of 23 points, trailing behind China's gold medalists who scored 16 points. Hong Kong claimed the bronze with 24 points, while South Korea finished fourth with 27 points.
The Prime Minister's Office shared a message on X, where PM Modi praised Noble and Francis for their remarkable improvement and determination, stating, "A special and spectacular Silver! Congrats to Prince Noble and Manu Francis on winning the Silver Medal in the Men’s Skiff event at the Asian Games 2026. They have truly made a remarkable leap powered by skill and determination. Best wishes for their future endeavors: PM @narendramodi."
The Indian women's squash team, consisting of Anahat Singh, Joshana Chinappa, Tanvi Khanna, and Shameena Riaz, earned a bronze medal despite a 1-2 loss to Hong Kong in the semifinals.
PM Modi commended the women's squash team for their spirited performance, noting that their success would inspire young athletes to take up the sport. He stated, "Proud of the Indian Women’s Squash Team for winning the Bronze Medal at the Asian Games 2026. This success will motivate youngsters towards squash, which is gaining popularity in India: PM @narendramodi."
Additionally, PM Modi congratulated T Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru for winning bronze in the men's compound individual event after defeating Vietnam's Cong Duc Dang. He remarked, "Congratulations to Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru on his hard-fought victory in the Men’s Compound Individual Bronze Medal Match at the Asian Games. His precision and composure under pressure have brought immense glory. Best wishes for his future endeavors: PM @narendramodi."
The Prime Minister also recognized Dharmveer Chaudhary, Manu TS, Jay Kumar, and Vishal TK for their bronze medal in the men's 4x400m relay, praising their teamwork and stating that their achievement would inspire other athletes. He expressed, "Congratulations to Dharmveer Chaudhary, Manu TS, Jay Kumar, and Vishal TK on winning Bronze in the Men’s 4×400m Relay. This success will go a long way in inspiring other athletes: PM @narendramodi."
