Legal Action Against Muzarabani

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is preparing to initiate legal proceedings against Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani. This action comes after Muzarabani signed with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL), while simultaneously withdrawing from his agreement with Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

A source within the PCB confirmed on Saturday that the legal team has been directed to take action against Muzarabani, who has now joined the Knight Riders, filling the spot of Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman, who was released by the team following instructions from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“With the IPL and PSL overlapping in their schedules since last year, we aim to send a strong message to players. Once they commit to the PSL, they cannot simply breach their contract to sign with an IPL franchise,” the source stated.

Muzarabani was initially brought in by Islamabad United as a replacement for West Indies bowler Shamar Joseph.

In a similar incident last year, South Africa's Corbin Bosch had a contract with Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL but later joined the Mumbai Indians as an injury substitute. Bosch faced a one-season ban from the PSL and later issued an apology to the PCB, which had sought legal recourse and damages against him.

Additionally, Sri Lanka's Kusal Mendis and Australia's Mitchel Owen participated in several PSL matches for Peshawar Zalmi. However, after the PSL was briefly suspended due to tensions between Pakistan and India last May, they also moved to the IPL.
