Pat Cummins Leads Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026

Currently at the helm of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2026, Pat Cummins has made headlines with reports suggesting that he and fellow Australian cricketer Travis Head were offered contracts worth ₹94.3 crore each. This offer was to play for SRH and its associated franchises globally, rather than representing the Australian national team. In a bid to secure Cummins' future, Cricket Australia (CA) has stepped up, presenting him with a lucrative multi-million dollar deal.

As per information from a leading Australian publication, Cummins has been offered a contract valued at $12 million (approximately ₹113 crore) over three years. This deal aims to prioritize his availability for the national team, particularly for Test matches, until 2029. Travis Head is reportedly in line for a similar contract.

This new agreement would significantly increase Cummins' earnings by $1 million annually, solidifying his status as the 15th highest-paid athlete in Australia. The contract guarantees him a substantial payout, irrespective of the number of matches he participates in.

The announcement of this contract comes at a crucial time, as Australia is set to play 21 Test matches within the next year, including home series against Bangladesh and New Zealand, along with significant tours to England, South Africa, and India.

Cricket Australia Acknowledges Players' Contributions

'Players Have Earned The Right To Earn More'

James Allsopp, head of cricket at CA, emphasized the necessity for higher salaries for players who have consistently performed for Australia. He stated, “Absolutely. They’ve earned the right; they’ve been long-term performers for Australia across formats for a long period of time. There’s only so far you can take them under the current constraints. That’s definitely a priority at the moment,” as reported by the publication.

Allsopp further noted the challenges in balancing player compensation with market demands, especially for multi-format players like Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Travis Head, who are in high demand. Ensuring their commitment to Australian cricket remains a significant focus for the organization.
