On August 16, para-cricketer Aamir Hussain Lone reflected on his unforgettable experience at the 'At Home' reception hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, coinciding with India's 80th Independence Day. Lone expressed his astonishment at the opportunity to meet both the President and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He described the event as a gathering of notable figures from India and abroad, including guests from Australia and Sri Lanka. "I never thought I would be invited to such a dinner and meet President Murmu and PM Modi. There were international guests, and I was pleasantly surprised that some recognized me during our conversations," he shared.
Lone also recounted his interactions with various celebrities from Mumbai, stating that meeting these prominent personalities was a remarkable experience. He noted, "There were major superstars from Mumbai present; it was truly a great experience to meet them."
During his brief exchange with Prime Minister Modi, Lone conveyed his compliments, to which the Prime Minister responded with a warm smile. "I just greeted him and offered a compliment or two, and he smiled back; it felt wonderful," Lone remarked.
The reception, marking a significant occasion, was attended by Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, former President Ram Nath Kovind, Union Ministers, diplomats, and other distinguished guests. The event commenced with the singing of 'Vande Mataram' followed by the National Anthem, with notable attendees including Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
