Dubai [UAE], September 8: Fatima Sana, the captain of the Pakistan women's cricket team, has emphasized the need for enhancements in various aspects of her squad's performance as they gear up to face the undefeated Sri Lankan team in the Women’s Asia Cup semi-final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium this Friday.

Pakistan secured their spot in the semi-finals with a dominant 72-run victory over Hong Kong, China on Monday. The match saw veteran spinner Nashra Sundhu shine with an impressive six-wicket haul, marking the best T20I bowling figures ever recorded by a Pakistani bowler.

Despite the convincing win, Fatima cautioned against complacency, pinpointing batting as a critical area for improvement before the knockout match. She stated, “We need to enhance our batting, particularly in terms of strike rotation and forming partnerships. We will convene to discuss these issues,” following their victory over Hong Kong, China, as reported by the ICC.

Facing a Sri Lankan team that has not lost a match in the tournament presents a significant challenge for Fatima’s squad as they aim for a place in the final. “We will gather to discuss various strategies before the semi-final, knowing it’s a knockout match, and we will give it our all,” she added.

While Pakistan advanced to the semi-finals, Hong Kong, China concluded their campaign without a win in three matches. However, captain Natasha Miles expressed satisfaction with the experience gained from competing against top-tier teams in women’s cricket.

Hong Kong, China nearly clinched a victory in their opening match against Thailand, ultimately falling short by six runs. Miles reflected on the valuable lessons learned throughout the tournament. “It’s been fantastic. Competing at this level challenges you and helps you learn more about your game and yourself,” she remarked.

“This campaign has been exciting, and we hope to participate in such tournaments more frequently,” she concluded.

As Pakistan looks to capitalize on Sundhu’s record-setting bowling performance, they must also address their batting deficiencies when they face Sri Lanka in the pivotal semi-final on Friday.
