Pakistan Super League 2025 Continues Without DRS Amid Tensions
PSL 2025 Games Resume Without DRS
New Delhi [India] May 22: The remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 will proceed without the Decision Review System (DRS), following its suspension earlier this month due to ongoing border tensions between India and Pakistan, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
The Hawk-Eye technology team, responsible for DRS, did not return to Pakistan after the league resumed. So far, the first five matches since the tournament's restart have been conducted without any disputes or incidents. Neither the PSL nor the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has publicly addressed the absence of DRS.
Due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the PSL has encountered significant logistical challenges, prompting changes in scheduling. To reduce travel and the movement of equipment, a match initially set for Multan was relocated to Lahore, requiring the production team to extend their stay by an additional week.
The series between Pakistan and Bangladesh was originally scheduled to kick off on May 25, coinciding with the PSL final. However, this series has been postponed by three days, and the number of matches has been reduced from five to three.
On Wednesday, the PCB revealed a revised schedule for the upcoming three-match T20I home series against Bangladesh. The Bangladesh team is expected to arrive in Lahore on May 25, just three days before the series opener.
Training sessions for the visiting team are set for May 26 and 27 to ensure they are well-prepared for the matches.
Notably absent from the 16-player squad for the three T20Is against Bangladesh are former captain Babar Azam, experienced keeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, and pace bowler Shaheen Afridi.
In the PSL Eliminator at Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday, Karachi Kings (KK) will face Lahore Qalandars (LQ). Meanwhile, Quetta Gladiators secured their spot in the final for the first time since 2019 after defeating defending champions Islamabad United by 30 runs.
Islamabad United will now compete against the winner of Thursday's match for a chance to join the Gladiators in the final on Friday.
