Pakistan Secures Victory Over Bangladesh in Second ODI, Series Tied 1-1
Pakistan Triumphs in Second ODI Against Bangladesh
Dhaka [Bangladesh], March 13: In a thrilling encounter at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Pakistan emerged victorious against Bangladesh by 128 runs using the DLS method during the second ODI of their three-match series. This win has leveled the series at 1-1, setting the stage for a decisive match on March 15.
After Bangladesh's captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz opted to field first following the toss, Pakistan's opening pair, Maaz Sadaqat (75) and Sahibzada Farhan (31), provided a strong start, accumulating 103 runs for the first wicket.
Despite the loss of the openers and Shamyl Hussain (6), a solid partnership of 109 runs between Salman Ali Agha (64) and Mohammad Rizwan (44) seemed to be steering Pakistan towards a score above 300. However, the game took a turn in the 39th over when Salman Agha was run out, leading to a dramatic collapse where Pakistan lost their last seven wickets for just 43 runs, ultimately getting bowled out for 274 in 47.3 overs.
Rishad Hossain (3/56) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (2/34) were the standout bowlers for Bangladesh.
Chasing a target of 275, Bangladesh faced early setbacks due to an impressive opening spell from Pakistan's captain Shaheen Afridi, complemented by Mohammad Wasim, which saw Bangladesh reeling at 15/3 within 4.3 overs.
Rain then interrupted the match with Bangladesh at 27/3 in 6.3 overs, leading to a reduction of the match to 32 overs and a revised DLS target of 243.
Bangladesh struggled to form effective partnerships against a disciplined Pakistani bowling lineup. Maaz Sadaqat, who had excelled with the bat, also shone with the ball, taking three crucial wickets and squashing any hopes of a Bangladeshi comeback.
Ultimately, Bangladesh's innings concluded at 114 in 23.3 overs, with Haris Rauf also claiming three wickets to wrap up the innings.
With this victory, the series is now tied at 1-1, and the final ODI on March 15 will determine the series winner.
