Pakistan's Official Complaint Regarding LBW Review

Mirpur [Bangladesh], March 16: The Pakistan cricket team has formally approached match referee Neeyamur Rashid to express their concerns about an LBW review taken by Bangladesh during the tense final moments of the third ODI in Mirpur, as reported by a sports news outlet.

According to the report, the Pakistani team believes that the review was prompted by a replay shown on the stadium's big screen, which they argue influenced the decision-making process.

This incident occurred on the penultimate ball of the 50th over, a critical moment that allowed Bangladesh to secure a strong position in the match.

Prior to this delivery from Rishad Hossain, Pakistan required 12 runs from just two balls. Hossain bowled a delivery that pitched on leg stump and spun away from Shaheen Afridi towards the leg side.

The on-field umpire initially called it a wide ball, but the situation escalated when Bangladesh opted for an LBW review, despite the ball not being close to the stumps.

Replays displayed on the big screen indicated that the ball had made contact with Shaheen's bat, leading the umpire to overturn the original decision.

Frustrated, Shaheen faced the final ball with the requirement now at 12 runs from one delivery, which ultimately resulted in his stumping. Bangladesh triumphed by 11 runs, clinching the ODI series 2-1.

As per the sports news outlet, standard protocols dictate that teams must decide on a review before any replays are shown to avoid influencing their choice.

Pakistan contends that the proper procedures were not adhered to, as the replay displayed on the big screen may have misled Bangladesh into believing there was a chance of an edge.

Additionally, Pakistan has raised concerns that Bangladesh may have exceeded the 15-second limit for requesting a review. However, the absence of a visible timer during the broadcast means this cannot be confirmed.

It remains unclear what specific action the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is seeking from the match referee regarding this incident.
